Men can get their questions answered about yoga and practice several poses in a one-time “For Men Only” class 6:30 – 8pm Tuesday, April 17th. The class will show and explain how yoga can improve flexibility, enhance sports performance and calm the mind from everyday stresses, all delivered in a non-competitive environment.
Cost is $15. A pre-registration form is at the end of this article.
Long-time Iyengar Yoga of North County teacher and practitioner Stan Williams will lead the class.
So women, share this with your male friends.
And men, consider what yoga student Jeff Johanson has to say about having yoga be part of his life.
“I can only speak for myself, but Yoga has changed my life completely,” Jeff says. “Physically, Mentally, Spiritually. I can’t imagine not doing Yoga. My body has gotten so used to it, if I don’t do my daily practice it lets me know! If anyone is considering trying Yoga I would really recommend trying it and see where it takes you. It could be the best Path you ever find.”
It won’t take long to begin recognizing yoga’s benefits.
“After a routine practice has been established or just a few consistent classes,” says Stan Williams, “expect to see yourself more relaxed and confident in the many aspects in your daily life, such as an increase in awareness and the ability to handle normal stress with less energy.”
If the thought of future yoga classes in a room filled with more women than men worries you…
Consider what these guys have to say about yoga:
“For me it actually helped that there weren’t a lot of men in class,” said Ed Horneij. “We tend to be competitive, so when I first started taking class it was a good thing for me not to have that aspect encouraged.”
Robert Joe describes it this way: “I come to class to study yoga so it doesn’t bother me if I am the only guy in the class. In fact, I would say that I have improved at a faster rate being surrounded by woman. It is natural for a student to rise to the level of those around them and since women are naturally more flexible, that is what my mind sees and so my body naturally gravitates towards that over time.”
Jeff sums it up: “It’s really about your Yoga practice. It’s not a male or female thing.”
But on April 17th at 6:30 p.m. the class will be just for men. Guys, take advantage of this opportunity!
