Neeta Datta is the Senior Level teacher for Iyengar Yoga North County, offering a twice-a-year yoga workshop San Diego during the spring and fall. Her workshops are an in-depth yoga workshop for students who have been practicing yoga for 6 months or more. Neeta’s on-going long-term study with BKS Iyengar gives her a special perspective from which the workshops evolve.
While preparing for a workshop Neeta comes with an idea of what she hopes to share with the students. During the workshop, “I see how you evolve, and evolve, and evolve, and how you will feel the whole periphery of the body. So now the pose is not just the physical level, but it is deeper into your body.”
Neeta has studied with Mr. Iyengar at RIMYI in Pune since she was 16 years old. Moving to the States in 1988, she has traveled to India annually to study with Mr. Iyengar and with his daughter, Geeta, and son, Prashant. Her studies began with the Iyengars in 1975 while she was still a teenager. Within 6 years, she was asked to assist in classes Mr. Iyengar was teaching in Mumbai. Today, she is among the most senior Iyengar teachers in the United States.
Neeta’s Yoga Workshop Experience
Students who attend a Neeta Datta yoga workshop can find that they experience a different perspective on their own practice. Their practice may become more enlivened. One student said, “She sort of raised my awareness to the fact that I really had been plateauing for quite a while. Since then I’ve been more conscious of that and I’ve been trying to make more of an effort. You definitely come out of her workshops with a different and deeper perspective.”
Join us at Iyengar Yoga North County for the spring 2013 workshop with Neeta Datta. This workshop will be held March 23rd and 24th at the Center at 2210 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas 92024. The workshop is progressive but attendance at one or more of the sessions is available. Registration is available online or at the Center.
